Did not have a PlayStation 3 but got a PlayStation 4? Do not miss out on these gem remasters

You must be a Sony fanboy to have not missed out on the scene since the very first PlayStation which revolutionized home console gaming. Or, you could also be one who missed out one, two, or three in the lineup, possibly as a newbie to home console gaming.

While real PlayStation fanboys would have already experienced it all in gaming from its primitive to more advanced levels—the heavy-grinding in RPGs, the scare of horror, and the thrill of sports, et cetera—those who did not experience everything from the first are surely lacking from the overall experience.

You know you are this person when your very first PlayStation console is neither the first, the second, nor the third but the 4th and current generation in the lineup: the PlayStation 4. This would not had been the case if only the PlayStation 4 is backwards-compatible like the PlayStation 2 and the old models of the PlayStation 3 did—sadly, it is not.

Brought Back to Life for Current Gaming Experience

But, while there’s nothing you can do to experience classic gaming with previous PS titles on a PlayStation 4, there are games titles from the past that have made their way to the current-gen console. Remastered to take advantage of the PlayStation 4’s advanced hardware capability, here are some noteworthy PlayStation titles that have resurfaced for the modern gamers:

1. The Last of Us Remastered

Developed by the same company that brought gamers the Uncharted series, Naughty Dog, the Last of Us may not necessarily be ancient as it was only released on the PlayStation 3 several years back.

But, while it was amazing on the PS3, the PlayStation 4’s better hardware functionality gave this title a revamped in graphics while packing every content there ever was in the game. Essentially, by opting for this game, you would be playing a more polished version of the same game which is highly-acclaimed as a masterpiece by most critics.

2. God of War III Remastered

Although not necessarily the latest installment in the franchise given the succession of title releases for the PlayStation Portable, God of War III: Ascension was Santa Monica Studios’ most recent effort at the time at putting a title in home console, the PlayStation 3.

Again, not as classic as the aforementioned title in the list, but God of War III Remastered was still worthy of the enhanced graphics that was not possible on the already aging PlayStation 3 hardware.

3. Shadow of the Colossus

Remastered not just once but twice, Shadow of the Colossus was a gem back on the PlayStation 2. Originally made by the same company which brought other memorable titles such as ICO and the recent, The Last Guardian, Shadow of the Colossus for the PlayStation 4 is still relatively fresh from the market.

While previous players of the title will not find much in this latest remaster in terms of added content, the highlight boils down to its massive visual improvements. Comparing it from the remastered version for the PlayStation 3, this PlayStation 4 version is vastly paramount in graphics, all while retaining the same fun gameplay elements that made the original fantastic.

4. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

Arguably one of the best titles from a highly-popular RPG series by Square Enix, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is a remaster of the Japan-only exclusive second version of Final Fantasy XII. Apart from the major graphics overhaul, this amazing RPG title showcases new contents which were originally alien mostly in the West until its official release in the market.
