If you are someone like me who loves the great outdoors, lives for adventure and really enjoys exploring, then you should probably try camping - if you haven't done that already that is.

Camping in the summer or spring is especially lovely. You get to be outside in good weather when the trees are in full bloom!

Now, I know that the whole idea of packing lots of equipment may seem daunting at first, but trust me, it's not that difficult.

So in this article, I'm going to cover all the things you will need to make your camping trip super successful!

1. First Things First - The Basics

These are things that you will need for yourself, like:

1. A Tent

2. Clothes

3. Towels

4. Toiletries - only the essentials!

5. Sturdy Footwear

6. Plenty of Food and Water

7. Matches and Lanterns

8. A Burner, Vessels and Cutlery

9. Insect Repellants

10. A Map

2. The Real Questions

Now that you know basically what you need, it is time to go into the details.

To make sure you pack the right stuff, ask yourself these questions:

1. Where and when are you going?

How you pack depends on what the weather will be like. If you are going on a camping trip during the summer, you will need light clothing.

However, if it will be cooler where you're going, it is very important to pack thermal wear.

If it is going to be a tropical location, you may want to carry a lot of waterproof materials.

My advice is to go to an area close to your hometown first, get the hang of things, and then plan another trip further off.

2. How long will you be camping out for?

If you're staying the weekend

In this scenario, all you need is a small tent and carry very few things. You will not need too much heavy equipment either.

If you're staying for more than a week

If the trip crosses five days, pack everything!

No, I'm kidding! All you need to ensure is that you pack enough water, a large tent and canned foods - fresh food will perish quite quickly.

3. How many people are going?

This answer actually determines the number of things that you will be taking with you.

Two People

Pack enough food and water for four people. It is much better to have a little extra than to go without for days.

The tent and sleeping bags size will depend on what your sleeping arrangements will be!

Three or more

When the number is over two people, basically double the number of items. You may even need larger tents, burners and vessels.

4. What do you want out of the experience?

You may be the kind of person who wants to be outdoors, but still, feel at home. Or you may be someone who wants to live off the land.

You want the Comforts of Home

If you are somebody who likes all the luxuries that you have at home - like a fridge - it may be a better idea to get a small camper instead.

These little trucks are outfitted with beds, refrigerators and even microwaves!

You want to be One with Nature

If you don't want much, then the perfect idea for you is a tent and some firewood!

Cooking over a campfire is an amazing experience, it really makes you feel a sense of adventure!

You want both

In this case, the best option is to go camping in a registered campsite.

These places have bathrooms and kitchens, but you set-up your own tents. So in case you are not able to cook over the campfire, you can always go to the kitchen to whip up a lovely meal!

Campsites are also very well lit, so you will not need to pack any candles or lanterns!
