4 Motivational Books for Aspiring Minimalists

By avatarmmoo

If you are an aspiring minimalist, or you just want to have an added encouragement to your chosen lifestyle, these motivational books might spark some joy in your heart right now.

For spiritual decluttering, check out "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. The main message of this book is to keep the items that really sparks joy for you. If it doesn't, then you can eliminate them in your life.

Interestingly, this book has a sequel: Spark Joy-An Illustrated Master Class on the Art of Organizing and Tidying Up. The same author teaches about a more detailed information on decluttering each room in your house.

Let me share with you a great quote by this brilliant author: “Discarding is not the point. What matters is keeping those things that bring you joy. If you discard everything until you have nothing left but an empty house, I don’t think you’ll be happy living there. The goal in tidying should be to create a living environment filled with the things we love.” - Marie Kondo, author of The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and Spark Joy-An Illustrated Master Class on the Art of Organizing and Tidying Up.

If you want a handy guide that you can use for just one month, this "31 Days to a Clutter-Free Life" by Ruth Soukup is my best recommendation. It comes with checklists of day-to-day tasks you can follow so you can successfully declutter your home.

I became so interested in the point that I looked for more books by Ruth Soukup. Thankfully, she has another one entitled "Unstuffed." This book emphasizes the three areas of our life that need decluttering: home, mind, and soul.

Here is another one that just might be your favorite: The More or Less: Finding the Life You Want Under Everything You Own by Joshua Becker.

In this book, the author views the topic of decluttering from the perspective of both simplicity and spirituality. The author, Joshua Becker, is a Christian. His faith is one of the main driving force of his writing. He also uses Biblical scriptures to support his writings and tips on minimalism. If you are not Christian, you will still enjoy this book because the author does a great job in writing this book in a thoughtful manner.

If you are new to minimalism, or you don't know how to start decluttering your life (especially your home), this book is great for you. It starts with the basic information you need. All the information about starting a minimalist lifestyle is included in this book.

If you have kids, check out Joshua Becker's another book entitled "Clutterfree with Kids: Change Your Thinking. Discover New Habits. Free Your Home"

There you have it. I hope that you read these books and find them to be of great help in your minimalist lifestyle.
